Radio Scanner

Hi Guys

Hope the mods don’t mind me asking as I know this isn’t strictly aviation related but can anyone recommend a basic scanner which covers airband that has a stored memory of about 50 freqs.

I’m not looking for anything fancy just something that covers civil airband.
Also how much should I be looking to pay for both NEW and 2nd USER

Hi Guys,
I use the RadioShack Pro-71, it is really useful and has room
for 100 frequencies, was about £100 when I got it, but that was at least 4 years ago, I got it from a shop on the approach for Manchester, just can’t remember what it was called but planes were quite low over the top of it
Hehe, a remember a European Aviation 737-200 came right over
Ouch 😀 , my ears lol

Yep! I also recommend the Maycom as i use it myself. Can store up to 99 frequencies and i picked mine up for exactly £60 (Good guess Mark!)

I use the GRE-282, will store upto 200 channels. Got mine on ebay for £40 with a few extra’s, they retail at around £90.

I can pick up landing aircraft (with an outoor di-pole) at MAN even when I’m a good 30 miles away!

One that I know several people on this forum use is the Maycom AR108 which you can pick up for about £60 now. Mine has served me very well for the last 2 or 3 years and continues to do everything I need from it still today.
