RAF Abingdon – Jubilee Show 1968

I got airborne for the very first time at this show via a DH Heron pleasure flight. Does anyone have any details of this aircraft?

Thanks

I have checked all the reports I can find of this show, including my own notes taken on the day, and nowhere is there any reference to a Heron being present. Is it possible that your flight may have been at a different show? I know that Herons appeared at both Benson and Abingdon to carry out pleasure flights at a number of Battle of Britain shows around this time.

I was there with my newly-bought Practika Nova SLR and came back with the thick end of 100 slides – a big expense for a 16-year-old.
I’ll have a look and see if there’s one that fits the description. Can’t make any promises though.

Have you looked into old threads, like this one?

Looks like the answer is “no” bravo 533. I was at that show and cannot recall any pleasure flying going on at all. However, I will check my records and see if I recorded a Heron being present, and let you know on Monday.
