Raf Binbrook Airfield And Control Tower

HI
WONDERED IF ANYONE OUT THERE HAS ANY PICTURES OF THE INSIDE OF THE CONTROL TOWER ESPECIALLY THE TOP OBSERVATION ROOM AS GOT QUITE A FEW INSTRUMENT PANELS THAT I MANAGED TO SALVAGE BEFORE IT WAS FINALLY DEMOLISHED AS WELL AS PAPER WORK
ALSO TRYING TO GET PHOTOS OF THE VARIOUS BUILDINGS AROUND THE STATION AS WELL AS ANY PLANS OR MAPS OF THE CAMP
HOPE SOMEONE OUT THERE CAN HELP OR ANY OLD AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS FROM BINBROOK WHO COULD GET IN CONTACT

Hi again, have a look at this site http://www.controltowers.co.uk/B/Binbrook.htm

And Im sorry to say Ive been though loads of shots I have from Binbrook and have only come up with these meager three, the first two were taken durning a base visit in 87 the the last one was taken on the 24th June 1988 when 728 was delivered to us at Bruntingthorpe, I thought I had alot more, will do abit more digging

also to atcham tower what is pprune ? is that a airfield or something

It is another Forum.

pprune is supposed to stand for ‘Professional Pilot’s Rumour Network’

It started in the very early days of the internet – approx 1996.

Very rapidly the ‘Professional’ part of the name was forgotten and it became filled with wannabees.

In amongst the dross there is still some good stuff, so if you have the patience or time it might be worth a visit.

hi thanks andy only managed to get 2 of the obs room of binbrook before it was demolished but they were not very clear
been looking at your pics of the Qra shed rebuild there great
i managed to get inside the q shed at bin a couple of yrs ago and took some pics but not been in it recently my family can remember the scrambles at night when we lived at bin from 74-77 my father use to be the village police man and we lived in the village at the police house absolutely love going back to the village and always looking for binbrook items dug up a section of a lightning wing about 2 yrs ago near the bomb stores in the dumping ground it was in remarkable condition and you could still read a pencil writing on the underside saying fuel leak
havent got any pics though but it is surprising was is buried under there anything from tools to aircraft parts

also to atcham tower what is pprune ? is that a airfield or something

Suggest you try the Military or ATC sections of PPRUNE as well.
