Hello Guys.
Does anyone have any information especially photo’s of RAF bombers that were forced to divert to Sweden during WW2? I have a book called Strangers in a Strange Land 1 and the sequel Strangers in a Strange land Part2 but they are all about the USAF with the B17s and B24s.

Damn right I am!!! :diablo:
I had it all set up ready to go, then somebody stopped it by trying to make it illegal to remove (by declaring it a cultural monument). I only had a small window with the blokes who were going to fetch it, and it was missed as a result. Their recovery plan still stands and still has their bosses approval, so if everything clicks into place again, it should be able to go fairly quickly.
Anyways, I keep renewing the permits I’ve got, and I’ll keep trying!!

If it wasn’t for red tape idiots it would have been back here two years ago. Believe me when I say it wasn’t through lack of trying… I’ve been trying for a few years now to get all the permits in place to bring her back.

Peter,
Also about captured aircraft of which several RAF aircraft are covered. One of the diverted aircraft is Easy Elsie of 617 still lying at her crash site in Sweden. I remember having thumbed through a book at our aviation hobby shop over here but the text was in Swedish otherwise I would have bought it. But it also covered RAF aircraft.
HTH a bit
Cheers
Cees

In English there is “The haven of refuge” published by theSwedish Aviation Historical Society, wich is long out of print, and “Making for Sweden part 1 – The Royal Air Force” by Rolph Wegmann and Bo Widfeldt published by Air Research Publications, see http://www.airresearch.co.uk/
