RAF Bovingdon Dump

Disused as an airfield since 1972, stories abound regarding what was buried at Bovingdon. Haltons were scrapped there in the early 50’s, and all manner of things were allegedly buried by the Americans when they vacated around ’62.
Anyone out there who was there at the time?
I remember a T33 on the fire dump, – must have been around ’59.
So come on, – is this buried ‘treasure’ a myth, – or does someone know different! – What’s there and where?
Can’t wait!

In the 1960s there was a Swift FR.5 on the dump. Local folk-lore insisted that there was also the skeletal remains of an SM.79 of all things! I never saw it.

There is absolutely NO WAY that FAL let his Haltons be buried- every usable part was cached and fuselages melted down – So don’t waste time looking for those

Where was the dump located? Was it near the woods?
