Hi All,
Am I right in thinking the Buccaneer was still the fastest aircraft at sea level right up until it passed out of service ? Sorry I can’t be there but good luck to all involved with the event and the rest of you lucky ******s enjoy the day and experience the site/sound and smell of the Banana Bombers.
This photo is on behalf of Phantom Phil from Cold War Jet Day at Bruntingthorpe 26/8/2012.

No chance of being with you but my very best wishes for a great day. Always one of my favourite aircraft and like SF, I remember the Blackburn NA.39 very well at Farnborough in about 1959/60. And with that reference to its place in the Middle East didn’t it also perform exceptionally at Red Flag?

I would have loved to attend, but unfortunately I’m working.
I have worked on all the Bruntingthorpe Buccs during my 4 years at Lossiemouth, both in the Armament Bays, and on 208 Squadron.

I always thought during The Gulf War 1990/91 even nearing 30 years in service the Buccaneer didn’t look even slightly out of place amongst the Tornados, F15s, F16s, frankly any of the aircraft it served with!

Feel even older, I remember watching the prototype at Farnborough, were have the years gone?
Good luck with your day, that date is doubtful for me, but will be with you in spirit.
Thanks for the kind reply. Hopefully the weather gods will smile upon us like at our last event 2 years ago!
