Good evening all,
Is there a central repository of building plans for the numerous “standard” structures the RAF erected over time? I have looked at the plans for various local airfields over time, and noted the reference numbers by most structures (I assume the one without were built off plan), but never considered if this information is still available?
So as a random example, if I wanted to build a “Decontamination Centre” ref W/344/40 could I do it to authentic plans or not?

A brilliant book and a must for anyone serious in airfield architecture

Can I recommend this also – IIRC (my copy is at home) has some excellent plans! They turn up at aeroboots for a tenner or so

Published in 1997, ISBN; 0-11-772469-6 but expensive, don’t know if it include Decontamination centres though:

Try the Department of Research and Information Services (DoRIS) at the RAF Museum, Hendon. I have seen what you are looking for there.

You are on the wrong Forum – you need AiX:
Thanks AgCat for putting the link up. AiX is a good place to ask and some info is on that thread already.
The Airfield Research Group Archives have some plans as well
Cheers

Just had a look and they all follow the drawing convention that has been given.
369/17
476/18 etc
They appear to be prefixed by DFW.
From 1918 the drawings were issued by the air ministry

I have seen quite a few RFC airfield building plans in various locations on the net. Would this be of interest?
