Post twelve,some of the ASR boats had marinised merlins(lion?)so why would they not have ign switches,equaly safe at sea with twin mags!!

VHF radios. Just below is a switch to choose set 1 or 2.

Would it be from an ASR boat?

Not with twin magnetos I would think. What about those funny sofa-shaped cutouts at the top – what fits in there?

I was guessing at Bristol freighter but couldn’t find a picture to check.

Who would put the radios next to the mag. switches?

With the shape of it, it looked like a side panel to me, obviously piston twin, also I was thinking Pembroke center overhead as it appears to have mag switches in the photo below, any one with better shots? or access to a Pembroke

The holes at the top are for the VHF radios, brackets at the bottom may be for Navigation sets. Having the magneto switches in between points to something smallish (not much room for a better arrangement) and/or something that had items retrofitted (ADF and/or other bits added at a later stage). Somehow I got to thinking about helicopters but the twin engined bit doesn’t lend itself to many options there.

Seems to be a poor design with the Dimmer being near the ignition switches!

Hi and thanks for the comments so far, I have studied this very closely (even with my glasses on!) and I cannot see any stamps or part numbers. That style of dimmer switch went in a number of post war aircraft. I wondered if the radio plates and the fact it has the twin Mag switches might narrow it down a bit to type. The seller did not know the type either so it is a tough one to ID.

Possibly one of the Percival family? The Sea Prince seems to have the same type of dimmer and switches (though being no expert that may apply to a lot of other types!)

So post war twin, but doesn’t look like Viking, Valetta, Dove, Anson. To my inexpert eye it looks like an overhead panel, is that along the right lines?

The dimmer switch and all others are 50s so post war type.

Any numbers, or maybe dates on the switches? might narrow down an era.
