Dark Green was introduced 1936 as part of the Land Temperate scheme. Included in the post war Ministry of Supply colour range as Aircraft Finish No. 7. Aircraft Finish No. 7 was introduced into BS 381C in 1964 as No. 641 Dark Green. This seems to have been an error which was not corrected until the 1988 edition of BS 381C when the number was changed to No 241. (The leading digit categorises the colour, 1 = blue, 2 = green. Therefore 641 would imply it was grey.)
Note. Paul Lucas RAF Fighters 1945-1950 UK Based:
“Examination of Dark Green paint supplied to wartime material specifications has indicated that over a period of time, the hue of the Dark Green changed from a match with BS 381C No 241/FS 595B 34079 to something approaching FS 595B 34092!”
