Hello Everyone
Just a quick note to thank those who signed my petition. Although 122 signatures might not be a lot, at least I know I was not alone on this issue.
With over one hundred signatures, I should receive a written response, which probably will go along the lines that the MoD worked with English Heritage to secure the future of a number of buildings on a number of sites, etc – but not former RAF Driffield. Very predictable, really.
I’ve also received many emails of support, especially from the Australians, who were based at Driffield during the war. I’m working on an idea to create an online archive pertaining to RAF Driffield and I’m not ruling out creating a history room.
I understand that the site is “under offer”, which probably means they have chosen a buyer, who have been notified. It is unlikely that my preferred bidder was successful on this occasion, which probably means the site will be cleared for house building, even though current planning restrictions provent this from happening.
I’m being interviewed by the BBC next Friday at the site. I don’t know what to say to them really.
Anyone who wishes to sign my petition, they have until midnight tonight – just click on the link below:
