Raf Dump near Lasham airfield

Many years ago, about 35 or so! I was on a gliding course with the scouts at Lasham, sleeping in the Avro York which is now restored at Duxford. One night we ‘escaped’ and crossed a few fields to an old hanger with lots of bits of aircraft around, Jet Provests, Doves etc, all ex RAF.
Does anyone have any knowledge of this, any photos or info of what happened to it – I’ve searched Google Earth and can’t find it. I seem to remember it was to the north of the airfield but may be wrong.

Many thanks

Yes, I remember this as well when part of the RAF Gliding and Soaring team taking part in the Nationals at Lasham mega moons ago. Possibly 1964 or around then. The site was on the opposite side of the road to the airfield proper and where the RAF crowd would set up camp in an assortment of tents and caravans, complete with a field kitchen. Wonder what happened to all that hardware! 🙂

Possibly ended up here in the post closure section (note second paragraph)

and this thread as well…

Have a look at my webpage on Lasham – look at the map, the 1942 and later aerial view and you can see just where it was located.

In the woodland at the bottom right of your picture, there are a lot of dispersals, shelters etc that are used in “paintballing” and outdoor management training activities. Lots of the brickwork is still intact.

First things I ever saw there – around 1956 were a number(approx 20) of RAF Sabres – later there were dozens of RCAF F-86s and a number of USAF T-33s as well as large quantities of ex RAF/FAA aircraft.

I’m not sure if a definitive list of all that passed through there has ever been published – but I for one would like to see such a list if it exists
