A long while back, I posted a thread about a Spitfire XVI wearing 1940 colours on display somewhere. Turned out this was TE311 back in her Exhibition Flight days, and I had seen her at RIAT ’93.
Anyway, did ‘311 carry the cannon fairings during her time on the road? I don’t recall seeing any, but the photos I had were from the rear quarter, and the photo someone came up with was also from behind.
Also, it would be interesting to see more photos of TE311 and TB382 in their Exhibition Flight days, if anyone has them?

If you’re a Spitfire fanatic, they are a must-have. Worth paying the price just for the photos alone!

hi
excuse the ignorance but what is vol 1 and 2,
Ask about “the boo” too!
I believe one or two of the forum members have compiled a pair of books listing all the surviving Spitfires and their history’s. I’ve noticed that they are referred to so frequently that those in the know just call them vol 1 or vol 2…

hi
excuse the ignorance but what is vol 1 and 2, ive been after the exhibition flts a/c in the early 50,s. As a young lad I sat in the c/pit with my finger on the gun button and thought long and hard if to press the “tit” in the end the devil got the better of me and I shot down the hun( which in fact was the town hall).
