A 1965 film which shows British operations in Aden, Middle East.
Every type of aircraft and helicopter featured either has been preserved or flies as a warbird 52years on.

I served there ,61-63 Loved the beginning with everyone enjoying themselves in the ocean and lounging by the beach. However at the sharp end 8 sqdn Hunters for about 4 months were the only hunters there and we worked non-stop to keep them serviceable ,not a pleasant place although some of my old colleagues see Aden through rose tinted specs!!I did see an ex 8 sqdn Hunter in Hendon some years ago .There are no Maritime shackeltons preserved ,only AEW with the radar removed and long bomb doors fitted!

The commentary was by actor Jon Rollason, who died a year ago tomorrow.

Friend served out there, he told me they started to build a pair of those big emergency water tanks built on stilts up in the air on the airfield, he said they go about 1/2 way up then one continued on and the other started to shrink until only one remained, it appears someone had cocked up and they were both to be built on different airfields.

Interesting. My cousin spent time out there while doing his National Service. He was an RAF medic.
