RAF Key

Not aircraft related probably but RAF connected so I hope you won’t mind my posting this one here.

Flt/Sgt William “Bill” O’Neill, RNZAF, was KIA on 26.06.1942 and as was customary the RAF returned his personal belongings to his family. Among the many and varied items returned were these two keys. The larger one is clearly RAF issue (makes me wonder how come it was considered part of Bill’s personal belongings) and I was wondering if any of you knowledgeable people on this forum might want to hazard a guess as to what it was for. It does have an odd shape to my eyes.

Bill was the observer of a 13 Sqdn Blenheim that crashed near Aartselaar in Belgium. I’ve been researching this crash for a good 7 years now (on and off of course, still have to work for a living!) with some fascinating results so far.

TIA for any suggestions you may have.

Cheers,

Walter

Looks like a mortice lock key? – the other one looks like a locker key.

Just from my experience with keys…
