Hello all, a couple of items announced yesterday, one of them dispelling any doubt there was on a 2012 air show.
No 6 Sqn at RAF Leuchars has been tasked with the Royal Air Force Typhoon Display Team for 2012, and workup will start soon with practice flights morning and afternoon each weekday. This task is in addition to the QRA mission that the Sqn performs 24/7, the Typhoon, as well as performing at other air shows around the UK, will of course, be demonstrating at the now confirmed RAF Leuchars Air Show date of Sep 15 this year.:)
HMS Gannet Prestwick was the UKs busiest SAR unit in 2011, The Royal Navy crews responded to 298 call-outs rescuing 240 people, it is the fifth year running Prestwick has topped the list. The RN and RAF SAR units are due to be replaced by Coastguard helicopters by 2016, (on present plans).
