RAF Lincolnshire

Went for a drive yesterday around a few sites in Rural Lincolnshire. Can seriously recommend the Dambusters Inn in Scampton. Lots of history there and a great place to visit.

Travelled from here and popped down to Metheringham to the visitor centre, that was unfortunately closed, the spare Jet provost has been dismantled, the grey JP is looking great but where has the Hunter gone ?

The Lightning is looking great at Thorpe and the Kirkstead Hunter, now has a small fence around it.

All in all a good day and the Petwood was fabulous to relax in after all this.

Hi BB

The grey JP at Metheringham, XS186, is just about to resume engine runs, and if all goes well low speed taxy trials shortly. Pop back on any Saturday and the XS186 CREW will happily show you around.

Can you tell me please, what happened to the Hunter that was on site with you ?

Hi
Im not going to get bent out of shape about it but could you please remember the hunter is on private land and clearly marked no entry. As you are keen in aviation its no worries but the aircraft is in an unsafe state at the minute.
Glad you enjoyed your trip.

Regards

Jon

I did enjoy my trip, my apologies and dont wish you to get bent out of shape. I didnt wish you ,your aircraft or your land any harm. All the very best with this worthwhile project.

I might take you up on that. I work at RAF Waddington but live at what was RAF Binbrook. Would love to come down. Many Thanks for your gracious invitation.
