I mentioned this in landraver’s ‘disappearing aircraft in Hull’ thread, but thought I’d post it separately to give it more prominence.
I am looking for any information – photographs, serial numbers etc. of Varsities that were based at RAF Lindholme, Bomber Command Bombing School, between 1952 and 1955. Can anybody help or point me in the right direction? I know the station or unit ORBs may be a source of information, but that would mean a trip down to the PRO in Kew; unless anyone has a copy covering those years.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Dean.

That’s interesting, thanks for that. I’ll have to see if I can find out some more – I’ll keep you posted.

Cheers Dean, I’m interested in 21 ADM Wing HQ with its T82 Radar and Bloodhound 1 Tactical Control Center that was located on the other side of the Hatfield Woodhouse – Bawtery road from the airfield.

I do remember seeing on the HM Prison Service web site a few years ago that the prison at Lindholme had a small museum which covered the history of the Airfield. Cannot find any reference to it now however.
