RAF Linton-on-Ouse Memorial Room to reopen

An airbase in North Yorkshire is preparing to reopen its Memorial Room for public tours again this year.

The Memorial Room at RAF Linton-on-Ouse commemorates the 2,009 personnel from Linton and nearby airfields at East Moor and Tholthorpe who were killed during the Second World War.

Wing Commander (Retired) Alan Mawby, curator of the collection, said: “The memorial room gives a fascinating insight into life here during the Second World War and contains hundreds of exhibits, photographs and first-hand accounts from that period.

“It is dedicated not just to those who died but also to airmen who returned but were scarred in mind or body.”

The Memorial Room will be open to members of the public on a pre-booked basis between 2pm and 5pm on Sundays April 10, May 15, June 12, July 10, August 7, September 11, and October 9. For more information, or to book a visit, phone RAF Linton-on-Ouse on 01347 847660.
