Hi all,
I have recently been released from the incarceration of the local hospital and while I am recuperating I thought I would post a few more of my early black and white pictures. There are only a few, but they were taken at RAF Marham on 13th July 1968. It is interesting to see that there appear to be no barriers around any of the aircraft and also very few people about. Either I was taking pictures early on in the day or maybe later in the evening after everyone had left. I guess it could also possibly have been a family’s day with very few attendees. I am sure I gained access courtesy of my father who although not stationed at Marham had some good connections that I was never too shy to take advantage of.
Any comments welcome;
First up are a couple of Andover XS601 in her kneeling position. This was the first time that I had seen or even heard of this attribute.
Next up is a Varsity T1. A close examination of the fin seems to reveal a backwards “S”, I guess I may have printed it backwards. Any idea which one this could be. Looks like a Gnat and Whirlwind in the background.
Next is Victor XL511. I am sure it would still have been a B2 in those days.
A Victor B(K1) this time, serial unknown. Presumably XL511 and XH657 in the background.
Bringing up the rear, so to speak, are a couple of Whirlwind HAR10 XP398. I was “dead chuffed” to get a picture of the instrument layout in the Whirlwind. I had the assistance of an LAC to get the picture and had to wait till an officer had walked away before he let me climb up.
I hope they are of some interest.

Ron,
Many thanks for the Varsity ID. I have always wondered whence it came.
Andy,
I have have any evidence to prove it but I am as sure as I can be, that the Whirlwind is from RAF Coltisall. I used to see them almost every day operating in the East Dereham, Nfk area.

Good stuff.
Would the Whirlwind have come from 202 Sqn. at Coltishall..?

Nice Photos, QuePee
Varsity Ident.
I wont bore you with my reasoning but, if the photo is dated July 1968 and the a/c carries the code ‘S’ on the tail, it is probably WL 675 from BCBS Lindholme.
hope this helps
