RAF Museum Hendon – buzzed by two Hurricanes tonight

I live next door to the RAF Museum Hendon site. We were just buzzed by two Hurricanes just before eight o’clock, doing a low pass over the site before looping back.

Bloody marvellous! (to quote a certain film). With a clear, cloudless sky and from my third floor flat they looked amazing in the the evening sunshine :o)

It’s made my evening!, no my week!

Any ideas what is going on next door? Nothing on the website.

Actually I like Cosford and the Cold War hangar and its layout aswel, but I think it should remain a one off for the RAFM museum, hanging up these exotic and unique machines fills me with dread.

I wasn’t saying anything against Cosford, I quite like the look of it too, was just a ‘haven’t I seen that somewhere before’ moment when I went to the link… I’m with you on the stringing them up like Airfix kits issue too btw. 🙁

Ummm – thats “original” – that said I quite like Cosford so I’m willing to go on a little faith and see how it pans out, 21st century and all that…..

Had this in my diary to pop over and watch, but had to work.:(

Hopefully the planned display at Rickmansworth is still on for Saturday evening – right on my doorstep!

P7350 was due to go but crosswind was out of limits for her , both Hurris recovered to CGY about 20.10.

MK356 returned this afternoon and should be at Dux this weekend

In he UK today…how many Hurricanes are flying ?

BlueNoser352!

Six 🙂

I wonder if they have lobbed into Northolt for the night, as daylight might be short for a VFR transit back to Conningsby.

In a Hurricane 😮 More than enough time with sunset at 20.45ish – I saw one of them heading back over Hatfield this evening.

The flight is a Spit down this week, after yesterday’s precautionary landing, so maybe they put up a 2nd Hurricane as a sub.

Not that I would speculate, or anything…;)

Might be connected to the relocation of the statue of Sir Keith Park from Trafalgar Sq to a permanent display at Hendon this week.
