RAF Propeller tip colours – 1940/45

Have just come across evidence of a Spitfire having a half red/half yellow prop tip. Has anyone seen this before?

Would hardly have believed it if I hadn’t seen it myself. Top two inches bright red. Next two inches the usual yellow colour.

This was on an aircraft lost in 1943.

Unusual, but modifications are not unknown. For example EN951 had thin white stripes just under the yellow tips on its propeller dating from its time with 133 Squadron.

No – a total one-off I would say! Any pics?
