RAF red/white trainer colour scheme questions

Hello from the colonies!

We are currently endeavoring to paint an aircraft in the red/white RAF trainer paint scheme. We have painted numerous aircraft in the past in accurate US military markings. RAF markings are a bit new to us. We have some questions which are listed below. I am new to this forum and I feel this request may spur some lively discussion. Here goes!

The two colour paint scheme we are referring to are as shown in the below urls

Question 1

What are the proper colours of roundels? Based on what I can derive from the various existing threads this topic has been discussed in depth. It seems that the general consensus is that the colours should be as below. Most important is the proper BS381 code. Various names for colours for some numbers have been discussed previously.

Red – BS381C/538 Post Office/Cherry Red
White – White.
Blue – BS381C/110 Roundel Blue

Question 2

What is the colour of red for the bottom of the ship? Some folks have surmised that BS381/537 Signal Red was the trainer red. Is this the general consensus?

Question 3

Is there a font available that is appropriate for the call sign numbers and letters? (i.e. WP123…) Or is there a lettering guide for those characters? (ref question 5)

Question 4

Is anyone aware of a cross from BS381 colours to PPG Concept series of paints

Question 5

Is there an RAF aircraft painting specification publicly available similar to the USN MIL-STD-2161A or US Army TB 746? This would help to properly size and locate the roundels & ship numbers.

Thank you in advance!

Yes, Light Aircraft Grey, BS381C/627

BTW, does anyone know what was the first RAF trainer to wear this red/white/grey scheme? I’m thinking the Dominie as I can’t recall seeing a fluorescent marked example?

As far as I can remember, the first public airing of the new colours was on a Jet Provost at the Royal Review, on the RAF’s 50th Birthday at Abingdon in 1968. The first couple of Dominies did wear dayglo, though I think they were repainted before entering regular service.
