Hello All,
As most of the UK residents on this forum will be aware, two RAF Jaguar squadrons, 1 Nimrod Squadron and another SHAR squadron are disbanding in March.
I know they are having a families day at Coltishall on the 12th March, this is part of a long weekend of events there, but does anyone know if there are any planned events for 899 NAS at Yeovilton, assuming its on the 31st.
It appears that most of the Jaguars will carry on, till the end, only a few are likely to be retired, and they will probably join the other 2 that went to St Athan to be stripped for spares.
Does any one including seaking93, know if the three SHARs that were recently offered for sale on the MoD DSA website, have been purchased by anyone?

If you do find out anything about 899’s last days, I would be keen to find out as I am planning to travel to Yeovilton for the final day.

Sorry, forgot to mention the 3 Shars, no idea if they have yet got buyers but they are currently stored outside on Z hardstand, by the water tower. They went back to the hangar for a few days but have since been put back outside.

899NAS are having a dinner on March 23rd for previous squadron members at Yeovilton, they are trying to get 700 people to attend, the aim is to raise money for local charities as a reminder of the squadron. There will be several aircraft that have served with the unit on show, such as the Seafire and Sea Vixen from the FAAM.
