The connections between Lincolnshire and the VC10 are pretty tenuous.

Scampton must have a longer runway than Cosford – future home for the likes of the vc 10 that couldn’t land there?

It might be an interesting exercise trying to integrate GA operations into the ‘Reds’ practice time. I make this observation as I understand that part of the ‘offer’ for the site is being able to watch the ‘Reds’ practicing; a point that was made when the proposal was explained at the AHL Conference last autumn.

At Duxford the landing fee includes one hour on the ground, but if you wish to stay longer you have to pay the admission charge too. Landing fees reduced for FoD’s and no museum charge of course.
The only bugbear is that you pay at the entrance desk, not the watch tower, so there is a good few minutes walk both ways that eat into the hour.

I wonder will the airfield be available for GA fly-in visitors?

It would be silly for it not to be available. Theres plenty of runway and I believe a grass strip that the gliders use or did use (I did some gliding from there 20+ years ago). How does it work at Duxford? Do the landing fees include the museum admission price? (I’m ground bound and genuinely have no idea)
If it all comes together it could be a very good thing for Lincolnshire, I wonder if/when the BBMF will move there?

This project was briefly referenced in post #27 in this thread http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?119336-Lincolnshire-Bomber-Command-Memorial-Appeal and from memory in a couple of other threads as well.
As Moggy says Lincolnshire has done a lot with its aviation heritage and this continued when Aviation Heritage Lincolnshire (the original HLF funded project) was taken in-house by the County Council at the end of its original timeframe.

That does look exciting. Lincolnshire has done quite a bit to support its aviation heritage and this looks like a great step forward. I wonder will the airfield be available for GA fly-in visitors?

Looks interesting. There was a report on the BBC TV local news channel.
