I’m begining a portrait of a 40’s era RAF Sergeant. I notice there is usually a badge on the right side (as you look at it) of the RAF side cap.
Can anyone confirm that this is the correct badge for the side cap and correct for a sergeant?

Thanks all

I’d have used artistic licence and not painted in the flash hotspots from his camera – but apart from that I reckon it’s great.

Hello all. I’ve now finished the portrait mentioned earlier, in the end I didn’t actually need to show the cap badge!
This painting is a commission for someone who wanted to be portrayed in a WW2 RAF uniform…
Here is the photo I was sent…

…and the finished portrait…

Any comments, good or bad, most welcome!
Kind regards

RAF SIDE CAP BADGE
Hi Mat…………….I served in the RAF from 1957-1962, my rank on demob was an SAC. I have one of those badges but slightly different, the crown is the Queen’s crown, you have King George’s crown. Its been 42 years, but if my memory not failing me a sergeant had the same RAF badge on the head dress, similar to the peak hat. At the time that I served in the RAF the working head dress was the rounded flat hat. When the daily head dress was worn the badge was almost directly in line above the left eye. You might know all this already. I hope I was able to give you some info.
From Canada
Charles.
