Does anyone have any idea about the types and the quantity of weapons stored here?
Raf Welford is a depot here in the UK consisting mainly of secure, underground storage bunkers where muntions for the US airforce is kept for use in times of war.
It was very well stocked during the Cold war and was only one of many muntions depots throughout not only the UK but Germany as well.
Now it is the only one that I know of in the UK and provides a forward reserve “NATO war stock” as it is called. I know that during the Kosovo crises there was a lot of activity around the base as supplies were transported from there to RAF Fairford which is not a great distance away.
So my question what quantities of weapons and what types of weapons are stored there? AAM’s? AGMs? PGMs? I imagine loads of dumb bombs, what about USN weapons or US army muntions?
Also as security is so tight I imagine during the Cold war nukes were stored there too. Does anyone know if these would still be stored there?
All replys welcome and hopefully no one will be able to turn a simple thread like this into a racist “I hate …..blah blah”
