Due to building work starting, sure sign that Wyton will close when they finish in 2012, the Families Day was moved from its usual 1 hanger location to the north side of 4 hanger. Any one at the crash gate at the St Ives end would have got some superb shots with aircraft turning over them. As they were using the shorter runway, this created a bit of a dog leg so some nice topsides. The down side was that there was a 7ft high fence enclosing the families area so no take off/landing shots. The advertised 4 ship Harriers were stuck on the ground, we were told, but clearly flew at their home base. Mark Jefferies and his Extra 300s put on a superb display and the ‘Barnstormers’ did well at the end of the show in the blustery conditions. Oh and that big tin triangle thing put in an appearance, eventually. Despite being warm and dry the light deteriorated during the afternoon with high cloud and haze.
How many?

Great work, Brian. Great that you got so many top-sides! Lovely angle on the Spitfire.

Great stuff. That’s a nice angle on PL344, too.
