dark light

RAFM Hendon ~ 16Sep14

Again nothing you have not seen before as I was trying out my Sony A7s, the camera that takes pictures in the dark, at Hendon with the ISO ranging from 3,200 to 51,200. As for the museum I was told the FE2b has been moved into the Grahame-White Factory and the cutaway Bristol Fighter has been moved out of the main building as well, but as to where I didn’t ask. The lack of people in the photos was just that as the place was virtually deserted and the one time I wanted to watch the ‘Our Finest Hour’ film in the BoB hall, it was temporarily unavailable and the lights stayed on.

Very impressive under the Hendon lighting conditions.

Well, as a comparison with a normal camera, here’s the Lanc taken in December 2009 with a Nikon D50, with the standard 18~55mm lens. On a tripod, 10 second exposure, F13 for depth of field, 18mm fl, ISO 200 ( the D50 gets very noisy at higher ISO’s ).

Great pics, this camera for sure does things others won´t. Incredibly light and clear pics, even the background is surprisingly precise. Never saw photos that clear under the conditions that are found in Hendon. It would be interesting to see a side by side comparison pics taken with a “normal”, regular camera. Thank you for posting!

Great photos, shame the lighting is not like that in reality, especially on the Lanc which always seems to be in the dark.
