The new FP notes that the RAFM Scottish Aviation Pioneer will be shipped out of the Conservation Centre and will go back on display at Cosford in its’ 1960 RAF Middle East scheme.
How does this square with what many of us saw during the MBCC open week – namely the Pioneer repainted in the markings of the Air Force of the Sultanate of Muscat and Oman (SOAF) and the subsequent comment on here that it was to be shipped out to the Gulf for display on loan
Change of plans – or a short term sop to expressed views?

The twin pioneer was displayed next to the shop in the Cold War display 3 weeks ago.

Hasn’t the twin pin been on display since the opening of the Cold War Museum ? It was there in January 08.

I wish a ray of enlightenment would shine down on the RAFM / East Fortune and see her head up North where she belongs with the Cygnet coming the other way!

Wrecks and Relics 21 confirms that “Twin Pin” XL993 is in the “warped shed” at Cosford and has been since it opened.
Re. the “Single Pin” XL703, “a reliable source” told me the Omanis had lost interest in “borrowing” her and the deal had fallen through. She would be staying in the UK.

The Twin wasn’t on display the times I visited in last few years, and was pictured in the storage hangar across the airfield.

It hasn’t – it’s been in the Cold War Exhibition since that opened in 2007
