Croydon, a slip up in my spelling! The picture was copied from a railway book.”The history of British Railways” by an author called Barrington Tatford. The railway forum has never heard of him!!!

Did you mean to spell Croyden as opposed to Croydon, especially as your picture shows the unmistakeable Croydon Airport terminal building?

We “pinched” the name and (technically) incorrectly named our replica Rapide with the same name.

However, this was all done for a reason – at the request of the people who financed the refurbishment and conversion of the old Liverpool (Speke) terminal into a hotel back in 2000/2001 – Neptune Developments.

They were going to finance a replica de-H 86 Express too but they were running out of money and cancelled. Pity.

Anon.
