Back in the early 70s, I watched the excavation of a crashed Spitfire just the west of Ranks Green (nr Great Leighs). Many years later I posted an enquiry in Fly Past and received a reply from the organisation who carried out the excavation. Sadly I have lost that information and would therefore welcome any replies to this ‘new’ enquiry.
