Save your money and buy a book–a second hand book.
There’s f**k all on how ever many channels you have–there’s no coincidence that organised religion died out with the growth of TV. With TV, those who consider themselves our masters found a much better way of getting their message across than the pulpit ever offered. The message is greed, greed, and more f*cking greed–everyone has to have something–now, today, yesterday–can’t wait..!
I watch less than an hour of TV a week and life is good.
Save your money, the set you want will be half the price in 18 months (or obsolete) and they’ll still be f*ck all to watch.

You should be able to, take it you have it feeding through an HDMI cable and have the settings right, I notice a visible difference on my TV on HD, this new one even more from what I could see.

We’ve had a 1080p haunted fishtank for a long time, but nothing to pump HD images into it.

We finally bought a new Blu-Ray / PVR / Freeview HD box, so can now watch in glorious High Definition.

To be honest, on our 32″ screen, I can see no discernible difference

Ok back to the TV, took myself a wander into a Curry’s megastore…. A wonderous building with a large glass frontage and skylights in front streaming in glorious sunlight and not a cloud in sight, so off I goes to the dark and dingy TV area to relish in the stunning screen and test then purchase my new TV…

Ello I says, no damn TV, but I needn’t have worried, along comes one of the staff that hover about like flies on a t*rd,

I have come to look at the 4k TV I hope to be purchasing from you today, do you have one on display?

And there it was standing facing the wall of glass and directly in sunlight 🙁

No says the man, as I try to squint at the image through the reflection of the sun in the vaulted Windows.. but I will get the Sony man to come and speak to you..

Sony man arrives, your kidding me right, who’s idea was this….

Sony’s he replies, we’ve tried to tell them, but it needs to be in the front of the Store, they insisted..

But I can’t see the picture quality says I,

Look close says he, you can make out the higher quality, and if you wait when a cloud passes the Sun you will see the stunning picture, I wish we had curtains over the windows he goes on…… I kid you not.

He then suggests I travel in again to see it when it is cloudy (i live 30 miles away)…. You couldn’t make it up.

So who else have one in I can view, he gives me a list of a couple of stores… I point out I intended to buy it off them today, but without a viewing they have lost the sale.

I then turn to walk out the door straight through the no exit barriers lol that set off the alarm which I hadn’t seen the sign for, apologising I depart…

On to the other store the one recommended another 30 miles… Wander in ask to see the TV…

Nice chap really apologetic informs me they do not hold them and as not a megastore ever will…. Grrrrrr

Set of macro rings that work well..

I even have a modified ring that allows me to operate my old film camera Tamaron SP 500mm mirror lens on it, it only works at a fixed F8 aperture, but that is the only one the lens had 🙂

£4,000 for a TV and they couldn’t plug it in,he must get the worst salesman of the year award.
Now,playing abit of devils advocate here,i wonder if the fact that people come in ,check the stuff out and then go and buy it cheaper online has made them wary of unpacking a new one.

There was a similar thread about cameras being unboxed in a shop to show customers and whether they then became used and not new.Having said that they should still have a demo version.

On about cameras Gary, I have always been a fan of Canon cameras and gear, however, I have dreamed of having a Leica for Donkeys years, so earlier this year, I drove to Sheffield, to my nearest Leica dealer. They had the camera I wanted in stock, but refused to open the box to let me have a “Hands on” look at it. They had no demo out to look at, but stated they could get a demo, from a shop in London, and they would then be able to let me see look and “Feel” the camera.
Long story short, went home, went back the next week, tried the demo, and then purchased the original camera they had in stock.But the wait was well worth it.

Fair answer Tony and each to his own but I’d have other ideas for £4000, if I had it to spare!;)

It’s a 4k TV it’s four times the clarity of HD, which is the same as that used in Cinemas these days, I realise its expensive, the other one I was looking at was £1700 less and they even threw in their £500 phone. But I do watch a lot of TV and films, my current LCD TV when it came out was similarly expensive as it was one of the first flat panel TVs and at the time a 720p HD model, I have had the same TV for over ten years now, and of late on light images I have noticed a circle of dust spots on the picture, hence looking for a new TV that uses the current technology and should be bulletproof and keep me going for the next ten 🙂

Never been what you would call a techno buff who buys the latest all singing all dancing gadget, but when I do I like to try and buy something that will not be technology wise redundant 6 months from now, and they think it will take a couple of years for everything to catch up with them… 🙂

Simply i said well if you cannot be bothered to connect it up so I can see it, I would spend my money elsewhere, it’s not a cheap TV to buy without seeing it working and if they cannot demo it I’ll find a shop that does and buy from them.

It may well be that the salesman was an idle bugg*r who couldn’t be bothered to unpack one, connect it up for Tony, only to “Possibly” be told by Tony, that he didn’t want it.

If the salesman actually said “yup” he shouldn’t even be working in retail. But I’d have wanted to know why they wouldn’t/could connect it.
Fisticuffs of course achieve nothing.

Knowing Tony, a black eye was all the salesman would have been given. I would have gone right to the top, and gone into V.M. mode.

Did you get a T.V. in the end Tony?.
