Although Southend sees a lot of Boeings and Airbuses for maintenance, recently there have also been quite a few movements of some interesting smaller airliners recently.
I”ll start with something not quite so rare – but a one of a kind – the only ATR42 in Aer LIngus Regional livery. Very nice it looks to in the evening light.

Departing back on the scheduled service to Dublin:

Next a Malmo Aviation RJ100 departing back to Malmo after maintenance – a nice scheme:

However a problem was developed after departure, and to my surprise, the aircraft returned just before sunset:

Now another repaint visitor, Air France by Regional E145, the next to be repainted into Hop! colours. The Air France scheme on regional aircraft will soon be gone:

Next, a NextJet BAe ATP returned from more engine runs in preparation for its return to flight and delivery after spending several years in stoarge at Southend. Excellent that its found a new operator, and it looks pretty good with its billboard titles. NextJet is the only passenger ATP operator in Europe, and SE-MEX will be the 5th aircraft in their fleet.

A very quick departure off Runway 24 back to London City, after having diverting in the previous afternoon after having missed the LCY Saturday afternoon curfew.

And finally, a Danish Air Transport ATR72 operating the Aer Lingus Regional service to Dublin – a shame it was not in the full DAT livery – although the red nose is better than nothing!

I hope these are of interest!

Thanks ~Alan~, Culpano and EGTC for your comments.
~Alan~: As far as I know, the resident spotters in the old terminal cafe have relocated to the Lancaster Bar next to the Vulcan.
Culpano: Thanks again, I’m glad that shot worked, as I was expected a very quick takeoff run (off the ground in less than 2000 feet), and was concerned it wouldn’t work.
EGTC: Yes it certainly is to see progress with the ATP – however it has been a bit slow, with the aircraft having done many engine tests! It hasn’t flown in 5 years. I certainly hope to see it fly!

Always nice to see some local pictures.
Where do the spotters hang out since the cafe shut ?
