Afternoon all.
I went to Bruntingthorpe on Sunday and in between watching the Lightning being thraped up and down the runway I bagged a fistfull of shots of the Canberra that is there.
This Canberra is an ex Boscombe Down bird and is in tip top condition, if thats not enough at the open days they strike her up and fast taxi down the runway and boy is she loud.
Anyhow onto the pics………
Airbrake details……these work by disruptng the airflow across the wing and creating drag (not air sampling pod as I first thought, doh!).
Engine cartridge starter system……

Camera hatch just aft of the bomb bay….
Bomb bay looking forward….

Hatch aft of the cockpit, used for equipment and part time cargo hold when aircraft goes to other airfields….

Ground power hatch, starboard side just aft of cockpit door….

She is rather yummy isnt she? I had aimed to be up there last weekend but a poxy cold & chest infection put paid to that 🙁 Theres just something about Cranberrys that make them grow on you isnt there LoL Theyre just so beautiful oh and theyre English Electric too. Bex

While I was ambling around her i did remember you had a fondness for the Canberra so I blarted away, the guys were fantastic and took me on an impromptue walkround and filled me head full of stuff, it was great:p .
The office is absolutely stunning and although cockpit tours are done while I was there she was ‘live’ so to speak with power so I was not allowed to sit in her but I did push my mush in there and bagged these three shots.
Starting to get a liking for these ere Cranberry thingy’s:D .
