Ray And Mark Hanna Buchon/Spitfire Footage

Glorious. Good sound quality too, and neat wide-angle work for this two-ship display in Norway.

Mark sits on the wing of the Buchon chatting to folk afterwards…

True – their dogfight at East Fortune in 1998 was just breathtaking!

Just wish I could A) find the tape, and B) get it on YouTube! 🙁

Wonderful to have the chance to see Ray and Mark together. What fabulous airshow pilots they both were. I doubt if we will ever see again a father and son team quite so in touch with each other in the air though Stephen and Nick Grey run close.

I really do miss the Hanna’s. They brought something very special to the airshow circuit for so many years.

At least we have the memories of good times past.

Cheers,

Mark had a knack of talking to a lot of people I think,at least he did so every time he was here. Met him and talked to him on several occasions. I remember one incident when he had flown Anders Sæthers P-51D from Sweden, and arrived early. When he had parked the Mustang and got out,he called Anders and said: “Hi Anders,it’s Mark. Do you have some spare change?” We could hear Anders reply “Sure, how come?”. And Mark replied “Because I’m standing in a field in Sweden,I just belly-landed your Mustang here and need money to get home”… The silence on the phone was deafening... 😀

PMSL, that’s gold!!
