Ray Davis shot by mugger!
The Kinks singer was shot in New Orleans after trying to catch two purse thieves – one shot him in the thigh but the injuries and not described as life threatening.

Maybe that was the excuse he gave because he actually didn’t have a passport? Or had a false ID and couldn’t get one?
Go figure.

I think his manager didn’t like flying – he never toured anywhere other than mainland America, apparently – combined with certain things about his past and identity…

Yes he landed at Prestwick for 20 mins on the way home from Germany on Army duty and that is officially his only time on UK soil.
There’s a bar named after him in the terminal, something of a shrine for Elvis fans I gather ?

🙁 Terrible news, I love the music of the Kinks.
Sounds like another case of friendly fire.

And as for the 2nd assailant, the police “seek him here, they seek him there”. The search has so far taken all day and all of the night.
Ray’s female companion was heard to say “Thank you for the graze”.
