Can you imagine searching for ‘the Hun in the sun’ through all that metalwork? Awful
Well ,might be a bit confusing since he would not be searching for his own type of a/c to shoot down. They fitted better canopys later on .. late G and K series Me 109.
Thanks Mark, I could not remember who’s P-40 it was.The current OFMC P-40 has a fuselage fuel tank so no passenger option there.Did you take the picture in the 1980’s? The OFMC had the a/c for sometime then.

I seem to remember a former O/C of the BoBmf describing it ( the 109 ) as a wonderful aircraft to fly but a tricky one to get in the air, an even harder one to land and a very difficult machine to ‘fight’ due to the poor view. was it Paul Day ?
No one will begrudge Ray his eventual retirement but lets hope all this talk is a tad premature and he gives us just a few more golden years. From the Arrows in Gnats to the present day, we have been very blessed to see him ply his undoubted craft.
Cheers to you Sir !

The greatest display pilot of all !
It will be a very sad day when Ray calls it a day.
Here’s a rare shot of the master in the Buchon G-BOML.

OFMC Fan,
Well yes. See above. Ant Harrington asked the same question.
By coincidence ten years to the day, prior to this flight, I had got to the end of the runway in this very same aircraft, in Canada with the then owner /operator John Paul, only to have to abort due to a radio malfunction.

Nice picture Mark. I suspect that the picture is of Mr Hanna in the front seat of the P-40 .However I believe that this was the P-40 they had before The P-40 E they have now.

Thanks for the pic Mark.
I wasn’t sure if it was a current shot or an archive one.
As Ant points out, the colour of his Flying suit is like the Breitlings one and the way the shadow falls on his oxygen mask & helmet makes it look like that funny looking one he wears now!
Anyway a timeless shot of the ‘Master’.
Cheers
Paul

oh to be
in the back seat of anything Rays is flying
By: Ant.H - 13th October 2003 at 22:03
Hi Mark,
Thanks for that,I thought the current P40 didn’t have a back seat,or atleast that the CAA wouldn’t let you use it,it’s just that those khaki overalls look alot like the ones the Brietlings wear.

Ant,
It is ‘Sneak Attack’ at North Weald after the show – 30th June 1984.

only the best
could fly with Ray,and there the best:)

I’d second that – a great show today, (all of it!) but the Breitling team were excellent. As regards the ‘scary bits’ I’ve just had to remember that Ray’s the main man (and the others are great too…) and it’s like brain surgery – you wouldn’t want anyone doing it, but when the chap’s that good, you just watch and respect the skill and experience. Ray Hannah, No.1
Cheers (and thanks – we are privilaged)
