RC Scale models

Just having a browse on eBay (that place of corruption and desolution!!) and spotted a few R/C Spits for auction. Some are nice, and some, well….

What’s the best (and/or worst) RC scale model you’ve seen? Any scale, any subject.

I’m still having a look for my best one – although there was a Spitfire XIV that I posted a link to that was… oooh! 😀

There are some excellent Large scale models there and lots of like minded people. I have to admit its not my cup of tea but there are some very impressive pieces of work there and I have to say that the Victor I saw at Kemble was magnificent. I agree with Dan about the Vulcan though, it just isnt quite right.

If you look here and here they have a forum for RC Model aircraft.

I just found this page

http://www.rcwarbirds.com/miscellaneouspage.htm

There are some massive aircraft models on it, most of which are very awesome.

I think I saw the Comet (well it was a big Comet – must have been the same one) at the Sept 5th Cold War Jets Day. There was a Victor, Vulcan and the Super Models Globemaster there as well.. Impressive.

That Bear is amazing, the method of rubbing aluminium powder over the whole thing gives it a brilliant finish and apparently only adds 8oz to the weight.

I have seen the big Vulcan display at Bruntingthorpe- does anybody know if the (nearly finished) gas turbine Comet that was there in the spring has flown yeat, that really was a beauty! 🙂

Is this the Comet you were enquiring about? It really is a fantastic model and appeared at the Large Model Airshow Rufforth in August.

I’ve seen that Vulcan before – just doesn’t look right to me. Nose too bulbous, wrong shape generally. Still an impressive model though.

Whatever happened to that Belgian B-29 from a few years back? Has the bitten the proverbial dust?

Hi Guys,

That B 17 has been up for sale at least twice, that I know of. Far tooooo expensive!!!

Here’s some pics I took at Wroughton, a few weeks ago. The C 130 is so big the Swindon club have to ring up Benson’s ATC to let them know it’s flying, because it comes up on their radar screen. Unfortunately, they were dismantling it when I got there, but you can still see the high size of the model.

The ME 262 belongs to John Greenfield & the Vulcan is Dave Johnsons.

TTFN,
Neilly

A top R/C model Boeing B17 currently on ebay, used in series ‘we’ll meet again’, 12ft wingapan, £8,000 asking price (at moment). Looks like a beautiful bit of kit. check out the link,(copy & paste).

Whoa! I can’t believe that gorgeous Dauntless is no more, what a shame. I did like the photo of the crewman consoling the pilot though, haha.

It would take a massive set of brass ones to fly that Dauntless! That one belongs in a museum.

🙁

At least the guy seems to have a sense of humour about it – Much more than I’d have!!

Is this the one John?

http://www.rcwarbirds.com/inaction.html

It’s a stunning replica, just gorgeous. In fact, I wan’t one.

It could be..though the paint scheme looks a little bit different, but it’s a great model.

My hat’s off to the builders and flyers of these models…and remember in many cases, they also designed them! Impressive stuff.
