Re: Ul'yanovsk

I have no time, so only brief info:

1. It was from the start designed with mixed wing Su-27K/MiG-29K. But in winter 90/91 prototype T-10K-2 (“39”) was reworked in T-10KM, so MiG (in such condition) was “retired”. ->

2. -> So the last fixed aircraft wing was 36 Su-33, 8 Yak-44, 15 Ka-27PL, 2 Ka-27PS.

3. P-700 consumed not so much space ~2 Su-33 + fuel and avia ammo

4. P-700 doesn’t indicate it’s “hybrid role” – it should be also installed on 1160.

5. Ul’yanovsk has nothing common with doctrine, there

6. The capabilities of Ul’anovsk was lower than Nimitz ones, simply by that fact that first one was some kind of “hybrid” remains in design.

I’ll try to check the last two sources – “Su-33: Naval epopee” by A. Fomin, and the greatest one on Ul’anovsk “The birth and wreck of seventh carrier” by A. Pavlov – the mentioned cuts above are from his book. He wrote it on materials taken from Nevskoye PKB where Ul’yanovsk was designed. If I could I try to contact Alexander Sergeevich directly.
