RE8 / Snipe / Albatros (Photo Diary)

Even with the Hun threatening, the BE-2 and Harry Tate were able to ensure it stayed “All Quiet on the Warden Front”.

The RE.8 had better take care, as a Fokker Triplane arrived ahead of him at Dx today. Sneaky.

The RE8 made a series of flights testing different ‘ballast’ settings:

After trying small and medium ballast, the large size was selected for dressing up to feature in an air-to-air formation:

I’ve never been a big fan of anything pre-WW2 ~ until now ! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Today’s event at Old Warden will no doubt get plenty of coverage elsewhere, but to keep this thread topical, here’s how they looked:

I dropped in to Shuttleworth yesterday, & had a quick look round the Snipe, & despite the fact that I am building one, it’s size actually surprised me, it looks a lot bigger in the flesh, than it does in photo’s etc, but she still looked absolutely beautifull :).

I speak for all forum viewers thank you so much for the superb photographs and information. Not all of us can get to Old Warden ,work,family commitments and distance gets in the way . The coverage is great .

We stopped at Old Warden yesterday afternoon for coffee ( and cake ) and found Kermit Weeks and friends making ready to fly the RE.8 and Albatross …..

And so the fun begins !
