Blackpool really opened an airport for expected small flights from all over the uk to blackpool for summer holidays didnt it? Hence the small runway?

I agree with the above comments. BLK is a bit too “tacky?” for my liking, but i find the airport easy to get to and also as mentioned above a desent alterantive to MAN, LPL and LBA. Its about the same drive time (give or take 30mins) to BLK – and to get to STN for me is the best option – £20 return with RYR or £120 with eastern – guess what i’m choosing!

Moondance, whilst I defend the airport at Blackpool, I’m afraid I have to agree with you, love the airport, but I’m not a fan of the town….a bit to much ‘kiss me quick’ for my liking!!

Call me a complete snob if you like, but I find Blackpool (the resort) to be THE most deeply unpleasant place in the UK. I can think of nowhere in the UK that I would less like to visit.
Brash, tatty, dirty, vulgar and designed to cheerlessly extract as much cash from you as quickly as possible…..AVOID.

As EGNM says passenger traffic is up 400% over the last nine months alone. I’ve flown both STN-BLK and DUB-BLK several times over the last few months and the flights have always been packed. On top of that there are Keenair/Flykeen services to IOM and BHD as previously stated. The daily flybe BHD service is expected to return in the summer as it has over the last few years. There is also regular holiday traffic from the likes of Thompson (Britannia), First Choice (Air 2000) and Iberworld, so generally things are looking rosy!

I know several people who work at BLK all of which are very enthusiastic about the airports future.

Jeanske_SN, Blackpool may not seem like an important city to someone outside the UK, but it is the UK’s most popular holiday resort and also provides access to the Lakedistrict national park and offers a good alternative to Liverpool and Manchester Airports.

Do you have anything to back any of the comments up eg- ‘Blackpool isnt an important city’?

So can you explain where Blackpool is not growing?

As far as i was aware after Ryanair introduced its BLK-STN and BLK-DUB schedules twice daily BLK was starting to expand the airports pax output – just by around 400% i believe in its first year? Ok it seems to have lost FlyBE on the BHD run, but they have Keenair/FlyKeen operation BLK-IOM-BHD (or is it BFS?), and although it will generate next to nothing in terms of pax numbers traffic, BLK-IOM with BNWA.

hhhmm,ok,I’ll make it simple.
Blackpool are thinking about selling their airport.
It is due to loss of passengers and more.
I WANT to know what you think it will be next?
ok?
