Real registration?

Heres one from my collection of old postcards,was this a real registration?

I believe PY1FZ is the radio callsign for ham radio operator Raymundo de Oliveira Martins (also spelled Raimundo de Oliveira Martins) of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. There are many postcards out there with his name and callsign on it, often being sold on eBay or other collector websites. He may even still be alive and have a Facebook page if it is the same man.
