It appears that I have collected over the years components of a REBECCA / EUREKA system by pure chance but how does it all plug together , has any one got a schematic diagram ?
also where in a Lancaster does the monitor live as I have never seen a photo of the inside of a Lanc with one installed?

Hi Andy , I have just had a look and its a type 233.

These Indicators are all variants on a theme, Type 6 or Type 6x where x goes from A to at least H, and then others such as Type 96 or Type 233.
What is the Type Number on the one in your first posting?
(The Fishpond Indicator, Type 182A, is significantly different).

I found the Rebecca monitor at a local car boot sale only a couple of weeks ago along with this unit which I think is a Rebecca H or Monica or are they the same unit?
I`m not a radio wiz kid so I think I will try to make it look externally complete, also is this aerial part of Rebecca or monica?

I wish I could find a TR3173 too! I’ve got a couple of the internal modules but I’ve never come across a complete unit.
I thought the picture might be in an American aircraft, the lagging on the wall makes me think that.

Thanks Andy and every body else that’s brilliant , I suppose I will have to find a TR3173 now! ……………just to complete the jigsaw puzzle.
The picture of the Rebecca unit might be in an American aircraft as the angle poise lamp looks like the same type that’s fitted in B17s?

Hi Andy
Doesn’t look like an aircraft I agree, but if not then how is it being used? There appears to be a heating duct too – if this were a ground installation then is it likely that you would have ducted heating? But your guess is as good as mine especially to the strange object bottom left!
Cheers

Terry, well spotted, Figure 30 of that document is the picture I wanted to upload.
James, that’s a very interesting picture! I don’t don’t think it’s a Lancaster, but what aircraft is it? The installation looks a bit of a lash-up with those bolt-heads protruding below the shelf! What’s the circular gubbins to the left and below the Rebecca Indicator?

161 squadron had them in Halifax special ops aircraft in 1943, my father’s logbook has an entry stating ‘First use of Rebecca’

Put your cursor over my user name and it will give you the option.
The diagram I have is for Rebecca MkII, and the aerial switch unit is integral to the TR unit. I think the switch unit you have was used at MkI.

OK, I have an interconnection diagram as a pdf, but at 800kb it’s too big to upload here. If you PM me your email address I’ll send it to you.

You’ve got some nice units there, but without the transmitter/receiver, the heart of the system, you’re not in a position to plug it all together I’m afraid!
I’ll see if I can find a diagram, bear with me.
Where ws the Indicator fitted in a Lancaster? A good question, I can only assume on the Navigator’s table. But how commonly was it fitted in the Lancaster?
