I received this e-mail from Crossair this morning, as a member of the Qualiflyer frequent flyer scheme.

>Dear Mr. Breckenridge,
>
>The creation of Switzerland´s new airline has come about through an unprecedented
>co-operation by the Federal Council, the cantons, industry, banks, private investors
>and the Swiss people themselves. Within four months, a total of 2.7 billion Swiss
>francs was raised to found a new airline. Not an easy task, but the good will and spirit
>shown by all parties involved demonstrated how important an airline is to the
>nation and that a global flag carrier of scale is an essential instrument to maintain
>Switzerland´s outstanding international reputation.
>
>As announced January 31 at a press conference in Basel, the formation of the new
>Swiss airline is progressing smoothly in advance of its operational launch at the
>beginning of April. From the moment it is airborne, the new airline will clearly reflect
>its close connection with Switzerland. Operating under the brand name SWISS, the
>new airline will take its place on the world airline stage as a modern and reliable
>Swiss airline built around the time-honoured values of caring, efficiency, hospitality
>and service. After all, it is precisely these values that have brought Switzerland
>prosperity and worldwide respect.
>
>As for specifics of the new product, its global route network will provide connections
>to more than 100 dynamic business and cultural destinations, both within Europe and
>beyond to other continents. A commitment to outstanding quality will combine with
>energy and innovation to make your journey as pleasant and smooth as possible.
>
>With a solid financial base to build on, the new carrier is poised to fly out confidently
>into the world with a new name and livery. You are warmly invited to take part in
>writing this next chapter in the history of Swiss civil aviation, together with Swiss
>Air Lines Ltd. The change of name of the company from Crossair AG to Swiss Air
>Lines Ltd. is foreseen for later this year, subject to shareholder approval. Find out
>more about the new airline on the promotional website:
>
>We wish to thank you for your loyalty toward Swissair and Crossair in the past and
>look forward to welcoming you again on board.

RE: Rebranding of Swissair/Crossair.
Swissair also upset alot of their Geneva passengers a few years back by cutting back on Long-haul from there and concentrating more out of Zurich.

RE: Rebranding of Swissair/Crossair.
Simple but nice, won’t cost as much to paint all the ex Swissair airaft in this livery. It reflects the swiss culture and quality as well, with all 4 of Switzerlands languages paited next to the logo-Schweiz(German), Suisse (French), Svizzera (Italian) and Svizra (Romanche).
Anyway this new airline has bigger problems than it livery! It is under immense pressure to perform well.According to a poll taken, only 7% of Swiss people believe the company had a very good chance of survival, not exactly confident.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-02-02 AT 01:02 PM (GMT)]here’s the new livery, as modeled on the A330.
Seems very similar to the old SR livery…
