Alright, time for another update. Here’s what I’ve gotten my hands on in the past month or so, primarily due to Christmas hehe.
Used Books-ordered these online, both in excellent condition (I’m sure they were handled daily on the shelves).
An Illustrated Guide To Modern Airborne Missiles-great book. One of the early-mid ’80’s Salamander titles, if anyone is familiar with their small military books. Very well illustrated, and full of a lot of interesting information on older types such as the AIM-4, AGM-78, and a few other interesting types that will be the topic of future posts.
Missiles of the World-same format/size, but much older (1972!). Still great, covers ALL missiles, not just those air-launched. Interesting reference source on older Soviet ICBM’s.
Brand New Books-ordered primarily from Motorbooks International, great place to shop.
Fighter and Stealth Aircraft (sc)-highly illustrated Spanish book (printed in English), not intended for the technical reader but still informative.
Jane’s Battleships of the 20th Century (hc)-nice historical book. Very well illustrated.
Warships of the USSR and Russia 1945-1995 (hc)-OUTSTANDING book. Written by a Russian and translated by the Naval Institute Press. Great reference source on modern Russian hardware if you know the systems designations as opposed to the NATO ones (i.e. Fort as opposed to SA-N-6).
Gorbachev-On My Country And The World (sc)-haven’t read it yet, but looks interesting. Wonder what Gorbachev thinks of the new Russia…
North American Aircraft 1934-1999 Volume 2 (sc)-informative source, got this because of the info on the F-108, XB-70, and A-5. Well illustrated with a ton of detailed line drawings (as is the Russian naval book).
Magazines
World Air Power Journal Volume 42-finally got here. Nice feature on the JAS-39, and an in-depth look at the Blooper Hornet. I’m always impressed by the uality of this magazine (and AFM of course!).
Combat Aircraft Vol 3, No 1-Great feature on the new MIG-29’s as well as part 2 on the MiG-31. Rafale supplement. Great magazine that needs a consistent in-store date!
Thats all for now, now go shopping!
