Recommend me a book on deHavilland Mosquito please!

Depends what your looking for. A book with lots of pictures? , tech stuff? (haynes do one yet?) or a war stories from the Guys who flew them?..

you could always buy one of my Pathfinder signed prints? 😉 . The pilot even has his own book out now “” J FOR JOHNNIE “” . FLT LT John Trotman DFC & bar. Woodfield publishing isbn 978-1-8468-3106-5.. £9.95. He`s still around and lives in Whitchurch Shropshire. You could have a signed book from him also.. One for the birthday boy and the other for a Crimbo prezzy.

I would recommend Ian Thirsk’s book.
But I would, wouldn’t I? He used several of my photos and quoted from emails I sent him.

Another interesting book is Mosquito Survivors by Stuart Howe, from 1986.

Since many of the aircraft are tucked away in museums, much of the information hasn’t changed.

During some correspondence in 1992,, Mr. Howe mentioned had just finished a 300 page book on the aircraft, but he didnt give me the title.

I think that was ‘The Illustrated History’, Volume 1, which was published shortly before he died. His good friend Ian Thirsk picked up the gauntlet for Volume 2 a few years later.

Both are excellent books, but concentrate on well researched images as opposed to a potted history per se.

I’ve just packed all my books up, so havent got the latest to hand, but it was in the late 90’s I think. It was updated with a chapter on Target tugs as well. Should be some on Abebooks.

Agreed about Sharp and Bowyer, but when was it last reprinted? I bought my copy new when I was at uni in the 1970s, but I haven’t as much as seen another copy for years.

I’m not aware of a Mosquito book with a section on the Hornet.
