Look and drool over this footage of the very well known 190 that JME Aviation is close to finishing for Paul Allen. This kind of footage is extremely interesting to watch.
What I would like to know, is there any footage of other epic recoveries?
I would love to see video showing the recovery of Halifax W1048 from the Norwegian Lake (is there any?)
Or any of the other Russian recoveries
Cheers

No video Cees of the Halifax ,I knew a member of the team and he only had still photos…….including the one of the bra on the aerial which was placed by the divers as a joke for when the aircraft surfaced !
Thanks Scotavia,
I hoped that there would be some moving pictures as well as there are a lot of photographs taken (including colour, hey it was the early seventies).
I have footage of the recovery of NA337 though.
Cheers

Footage about 1990.
The aircraft was usually covered by snow, but in an unseasonably mild patch, the snow melted, and revealed the aircraft. The pilots gloves and helmet were still on the seat.
Between the time the footage was taken and the aircraft being recovered, someone removed the tail section, the ailerons, instrument panel, stick, and one of the consoles. The recovery crew found most of the parts by following crude markers in the forest, and finding them hiding behind various trees! The panel was never recovered, or the stick top. The missing console and aileron turned up in a German collection some 10 years later!

Am I alone in thinking that in the FW190 clip that looked like a Pete Rushen ‘Doppleganger’?
So I guess that footage was late 1980’s.
I saw it when it was under covers at Booker on its arrival in the UK.
Now in East Anglia under restoration to flight.

Fancy having a quiet walk in the woods and finding THAT! Makes you wonder, really, just how much more is lying around in remote parts doesn’t it.
Cees, where is it now?

Well…when I cleared the end of my garden…!! Shame really. I had to leave it there ‘cos the MOD wouldn’t give me a licence. 😀 Andy Saunders
