There are many data plates on a Spitfire.

Could you rebuild a Spitfire from each data plate?

I’ll get me coat…

Amazing stuff.

How would it have ended up with two different CBAF numbers? Perhaps a wing swap from another A/C?

One is from the tail group assembly, the other from the mod plate on frame 5 firewall. Neither are the construction number and data plate for the fuselage.

There are many data plates on a Spitfire.

….the rudder pedals are quite amazing and I have heard the only pair to be recovered in the last 30 years in that condition?

Is this thread about the Birkenhead recovery one & the same ? Or is it ‘another’ set of rudder pedals recovered ?

Certainly did enjoy the photos, looks as though you had a football team to help you with the recovery!
