Red 11 Flies!

The two-seater Hispano Buchon trainer has apparently flown after all the hard work put in by Air Leasing Ltd.

Great news if true!

Amazing there are more “warbirds” flying now than 20 years ago!

Hi,

Unfortunately, the majority of people who read this post and were very impressed by this restoration will not take the time to post positive comments to “balance” the very few comments done by people who hightest restoration effort was probably making a 1/72 airfix kit.

To have restored an old car and have received some very ignorant and negative comments about it, I know how some comments could hurt pretty bad.

We had there one of the top warbird restored and instead making him a good welcome, some of us were just irrespective and I’m not sure we will se him again.

Richard : If you’re still reading this board, thanks for all the hard work to preserve these pieces of history. You, your company and your familly did so much for historical aviation since a long time.

Note : sorry for my bad english, I’m not a native English speaker.

Hi All,
Personally I think it looks lovely and all who put the time and effort in from the boss down should all be appreciated for the completion of a good looking aircraft back to airworthiness…..:applause::eagerness::cool:

Top and bottom of it is we are all for the most just observers of somebody else’s work, at the end of the day they have the right to complete their project
how they seem fit after all they not only do this for themselves but our enjoyment and appreciation as aviation enthusiasts.

While we may have a right to criticize we should also bear in mind that those who complete these projects are the ones actually keeping history alive and
do it because of their enjoyment restoring whatever aircraft for themselves never mind others enjoyment which I am sure they also consider, whether it
be to static or airworthy standard.

The simple thing is to like or dislike if you like it give a positive comment, if you don’t keep any comment as a suggestion or PM those who post threads
about their projects I am sure that constructive criticism would be taken on board instead of putting someone’s nose with a possibility of it affecting future
projects being kicked into touch.

As far as I am concerned I can’t comment in a negative way about such things as I am not involved in the industry and if honest it should be left to those
who are to leave negative comments as they obviously know what they are talking about. No harm in liking whatever but just remember that a negative
comment, feedback could have an unforeseen effect on those who think they are doing a good job…..

Geoff.

Welcome to the world of Key publishing forum indeed, but beware of the verbal lynch mob if you dare to express the wrong opinions.

Richard,
Welcome to the world of Key Publishing forum. 🙂

As elsewhere in life and business, this place is filled with people all too willing to tell you what to do and how they want things done while making little physical or monetary contributions to the task at hand.

I guess this would be the Buchon in question.

As I recall the clear view rear canopy was fitted with a dummy centre band, possibly black gaffa tape.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion ! Maybe in the years ahead it will revert to Spanish Air Force markings and bubble canopy who knows . Either way it has to be better than mouldering away in a barn!

Good on you Richard, very well said indeed.

Watching as everybody frantically backtracks ?

Personally love it – just like everything else that has come out of air leasing. Absolutely superb.

Is the p38 still on be agenda Richard or is that more a long term jobby? Looking forward to the schwarm of buchons in the not too distant future!!

We’ve never had it so good regarding historic aviation. Thanks to companies like Air Leasing, Historic Flying etc.
They really know what they are doing. And without them there would be nothing to enjoy apart from dusty museum exhibits.
Hats of to them!
Cheers
Cees

Richard just to clarify my earlier post, I am neither a speculator or complainant and certainly not deflated or “lost interest”. It is a lovely aeroplane and great to see that it’s flying again.
It was good to hear why the canopy was changed and makes perfect sense, and as I said in my post it is down to the owner in the end as to what they want, I still prefer the original canopy, but the reasons you have stated make it the only way to go. Thanks

I think it looks great and it is just a shame that it couldn’t have flown with the 2 at Duxford before one of them was sold on.
Does the twin seater differ much from the single seater in handling /performance ?

Richard,
Well put, and helpful, perhaps, for those that do not realise the operating requirements of live aircraft vice their static museum bound sisters. These aircraft, although they will never fly again, provide the historical reference example in most cases. The flyers must comply to contemporary legislation – some facets can be hidden, others cannot. FWIW she looks lovely (albeit a bit ‘sporty’ on take-off by the looks of it!) and I hope to see her next time I’m working at Sywell.

Richard,

Many thanks for taking the trouble to register, and give a few updates from the ‘coalface’. Contributors here DO need the occasional reminder that these fantastic projects which we so enjoy, come about only because somebody else puts in a shed-load of cash, and huge personal effort. Be in no doubt, though, of the huge support and encouragement that this forum represents.

It would be very interesting to hear your initial impressions of the aeroplane and its handling. The video seems to indicate that the rudder is put to good use on take off !

Thanks again.

Yes very well said. IMO red 11 looks excellent, i can’t wait to see it flying next year – especially if RG displays this like he does G-CBEL!

Well said Richard. This forum sometimes seems to have an over-inflated sense of it’s own importance. Like you I look forward to seeing “sideslip’s” latest restoration take to the air.
