Red Bull Air Race – Ascot Racecourse 16&17 Aug 2014- “The Fastest Most Dangerous Race On Earth”

Not my words, “The Fastest Most Dangerous Race On Earth” it’s on the Ascot publicity web site today – http://www.ascot.co.uk/

Some simple questions –
1. Do the aircraft land and take off from one of long straights (grass/turf) ?
2. Which ATC controls or manages the aircraft movements ? (or is a special ATC tower set up?)
3. What about the flight envelope ( are all the homes and businesses at risk if an aircraft goes out of control), or is there some FBW control similar to at UK airshows with high speed modern aircraft?

Apologies if these sound basic aspects. I posted this on General aviation but no one has responded as yet and since it can/may affect the general public I posted it here as well.
